How welding fumes can affect your health?
If you breathe in gases, fumes & vapors etc. in large quantities, over the years, your health will suffer. Exposure to welding fumes produce several health effects:
- Shortness of breath
- Fluid in lungs (edema)
- Inflammation of lungs (pneumonitis)
- Loss of appetite
- Bronchitis
- Coughing
- Cramps
- Irritation of the eyes, nose & chest
Other health problems related to welding fumes:
- Hearing loss
- Skin diseases
- Kidney damage
- Heart disease
- Gastritis / ulcers of the stomach
At Cleantek, we design & manufacture Welding Fume Extractors in various capacities. Our machines cleanse the hazardous welding fumes up-to 99%, and circulate pure air. Also, we are supplying 3D articulated swing arm, 3.5 meter length, for easy fumes capture.
Models:
- Stationary Fume Extractor
- Portable Fume Extractor
- Wall-Mounted Fume Extractor
How It Works: In welding fume extractor, unclean air is drawn by the suction motor, and move energetically through the washable stainless steel mesh filter, which hold the large dust particles. Then, the air goes through fine filter fabric, where the fine dust particles are filtered. Residual air stream passes into the strong electric field, where particulate takes an electrical charge. Then, the charged particles pass into a collector plate unit which is made of a sequence of equally spaced parallel plates. Every alternate plate is charged with similar polarity (6 Kv to 7Kv) as the particles; while attract as well as collect the contaminants, they repel. These plates hold the contaminants until they are washed away. Additional air pass into the gas stage activated carbon filter. Here activated carbon absorbs the toxic gases. Then pure air sent out through the exhaust line to the atmosphere.

FAQs of Welding Fume Extractor:
Q: How does the welding fume extractor work?
A: The fume extractor draws fumes and particulates through one or two suction arms into its filtration system, which consists of cartridge and HEPA filters. These filters capture up to 99.9% of harmful contaminants, while an air-cooled system ensures consistent operation and disperses filtered air back into the workspace.
Q: What are the benefits of using this welding fume extractor in a workshop?
A: Using this extractor improves air quality, protects worker health, and maintains a cleaner work environment. Its high filtration efficiency minimizes exposure to hazardous fumes, while its portable, quiet design ensures flexibility and minimal disruption in daily operations.
Q: When should the filters be changed or maintained?
A: Filter maintenance should be performed based on usage intensity and sensor readings from the LED display. In most cases, regular inspections are recommended, and filters should be replaced according to the manufacturers guidelines or when efficiency drops, as indicated by the particulate/fume sensor.
Q: Where is this welding fume extractor best installed?
A: The extractor is ideal for welding, soldering, or fabrication workshops in industrial settings. Its portable design allows it to be positioned near workstations where fumes are generated, maximizing its efficiency in extracting hazardous air contaminants directly at the source.
Q: What is the process for setting up and operating the extractor?
A: Position the extractor near the fume source, connect the suction arm(s), and ensure the unit is plugged into a 220 V power source. Turn on the machine via its control panel to begin continuous filtration, and monitor operating conditions through the LED display and sensors.
Q: Can the extractor operate for long periods, and what is its temperature tolerance?
A: Yes, the extractor is designed for continuous operation and can function efficiently at ambient temperatures up to 60C. This makes it suitable for demanding industrial environments where extended use is required.
Q: What types of fumes and particles can this machine handle?
A: It is engineered to extract and filter a wide range of airborne contaminants generated during welding, soldering, and fabrication, including metal fumes, particulate matter, and general dust, thanks to its high-efficiency HEPA filtration system.
